Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 is an optional connector. Most workspaces run on Google Workspace and do not need it.
When to use it
Use Microsoft 365 when part of the business runs on Microsoft rather than Google: an Outlook mailbox for a lender relationship, a shared SharePoint folder for construction drawings, or a team calendar that is not in Google.
Status meanings
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not used | The optional connector is switched off for this workspace |
| Setup required | It is switched on, but the organization credentials are incomplete |
| Not connected | Ready to connect |
| Connected | Verified and syncing |
Connecting
When the connector is switched on and the organization credentials are in place, the card offers Connect. The flow matches Google: sign in with the Microsoft account, approve the permissions, return to Kroll Connect, then Sync now.
Microsoft 365 usually requires an administrator to consent for the whole organization before any user can connect. Expect the first attempt to end in a consent request rather than a connected card.
What it reads
| Area | Read now |
|---|---|
| Message headers and folders | |
| Calendar | Events and attendees |
| Files | Names, folders and modified dates |
As with every other service, a write permission stays off unless it is enabled, and nothing is written back without an approval.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Not used and no Connect button | The connector is switched off for the workspace | Ask your administrator to enable it |
| Consent request instead of a connection | Organization-wide consent is required | Ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to approve the app |
| Card shows Error | The grant expired or the tenant changed | Select Reconnect |
